Iran's major documentary film festival, Cinema Verite, has announced nominees for the national awards of its 13th edition.

The Public Relations office of the Cinema Verite said the nominees were announced after the jurors reviewed 62 documentaries submitted to the National Competition section of the event.

According to the report, ‘Lunar Eclipse’ (Khosouf) by Mohsen Ostad-Ali scored six nominations.

It was followed by Sam Kalantari’s ‘No Place for Angels’ and ‘Just a Few Meters’ by Hojjat Taheri, which scored five nominations each.

Meanwhile, ‘Barrage of Bullets’ (Golouleh Baran) made by Mostafa Payeh-Shenas came in the third place with four nominations.

The three nominees for the Best Film include ‘Eyes and Hands’ (Cheshmeha va Dasteha) by Panahbarkhoda Rezaee, ‘Lunar Eclipse’ (Khosouf) and ‘Barrage of Bullets’ (Golouleh Baran).

Organized by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center, the first edition of the Cinema Verite was held in 2007.

Over the past decade it has emerged as one of the important events on Iran's documentary calendar.

The 13th edition of the Cinema Verite kicked off in Tehran on December 9 and is set to wrap up its activities on December 16, 2019.
